The "SNUG" Cowl Crochet Pattern

Materials


About 2 skeins of yarn

One skein of #5 bulky yarn for the body and one skein of #6 super bulky yarn for the top and bottom ribbing

11.5mm Hook - For a looser fit

10mm Hook- For a tighter fit

Threading Needle

Scissors


Size- This will fit the average size woman.


Abbreviations-


CH-Chain

ST- Stitch

Sl St- Slip Stitch

DC- Double Crochet

HDC- Half Double Crochet

REP- Repeat

YO- Yarn Over


PATTERN STITCHES

“X” Stitch- Yo 3 times, pull up on loop in the same hdc as the last leg of the previous cross st, [yo and pull through 2 loops] twice; yo, skip next 2 hdc, pull up loop in next hdc; [yo and pull through 2 loops] 4 times; Ch 2, dc in the center of the cross.






INSTRUCTIONS


Starting with the Super Bulky Weight Yarn #6


Ribbing : CH 51. SL ST to the other side. Make sure not to twist the chain. Turn

1st row: Ch 1. 1 HDC in each CH to end of chain. Join with Sl ST. 51 HDC

2nd row: CH. 8, yo, pull up a loop in the 4th ch from the hook, yo, skip 2 hdc, pull up a loop in the next hdc, [yo & pull through 2 loops] 4 times. To finish the “X” stitch see above. REP till you get to the end of the row. Join with a SL ST.

3rd row: CH 1. . *2 hdc inside the “X” stitch, 1 hdc between the “X” stitch. REP from * til you reach the end of the row. Join with SL ST. 51 HDC. Fasten off. Change over to the Bulky weight yarn. Join with SL ST.


Body

4th row: Ch 1. 1 HDC in each ST. Join with a SL ST. 51 HDC

5th – 13th row: REP 4th row. Join with SL ST. Fasten off. Change over to the Super Bulky weight yarn. Join with SL ST.


Ribbing


14th row: CH 1. 1 HDC in each ST. Join with a SL ST. 51 HDC

15th row: CH. 8, yo, pull up a loop in the 4th ch from the hook, yo, skip 2 hdc, pull up a loop in the next hdc, [yo & pull through 2 loops] 4 times. To finish the “X” stitch see above. REP till you get to the end of the row. Join with a SL ST.

16th row: CH 1. *2 hdc inside the “X” stitch, 1 hdc between the “X” stitch. REP from * til you reach the end of the row. Join with SL ST. 51 HDC. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.


You can leave as is or have some fun with it and add fringe to the bottom.
