The “Sidesplit” Dress CROCHET PATTERN

Materials

I used Circulo La Belle yarn. You can use any worsted weight yarn #4

For size Small (approx. 1200 yards). For each additional size up I suggest adding an additional 200 yards

Measuring Tape

5mm Hook

4.25mm Hook

Stitch Markers

Size- S- 2XL but easily adjustable to make any size


Gauge- 6TR + 2 Rows= 2” Using a 5mm Hook

Abbreviations-


CH-Chain

ST- Stitch

SL ST- Slip Stitch

DC- Double Crochet

SC- Single Crochet

REP- Repeat

ST- Stitch

STS- Stiches

CH SP- Chain Space

WS- Wrong side

RS-Right Side

TR- Treble Crochet



INSTRUCTIONS- Using your 5mm Hook. I made the size Small.


Make (2) Granny Squares


Make a Magic Circle


Round 1: CH 2, (Counts as your 1st DC) Work 1 DC, CH 2, Work (3 DC, CH 2) 3 times. Work 1 DC, Join with a SL ST.

Round 2: SL ST into CH 2 SP. CH 2 (Counts as your 1st DC) In the next CH 2 SP. Work DC, CH 2, 2DC. *Make 1 DC in each DC along the side, Work (2DC, CH 2, 2 DC) in corner CH 2 SP. REP for the next 2 sides. DC in the DC on the last side. Work 1 DC into the SL ST from the previous round. Work 1 DC into the next SL ST from the previous round (the one that went into the corner space) Join with a SL ST to the top of the beginning chain.

For a size Small REP 4 more times for a total of 6 rounds. Should measure 7 ½” by 7 ½”

For a size Medium REP 5 more times for a total of 7 rounds. Should measure 8 ½” by 8 ½”

For a size Large REP 6 more times for a total of 8 rounds. Should measure 9 ½ by 9 ½”

For a size XLarge REP 7 more times for a total of 9 rounds. Should measure 10 ½” by 10 ½”

For a size XXLarge REP 8 more times for a total of 10 rounds. Should measure 11 ½” by 11 ½”


Straps- Attach yarn to any corner CH 2 SP

To create your straps the front granny square should lay just above your chest and the back granny square should lay at the middle of your back

Row 1: CH 1 (Doesn’t count as a ST) Work 2 HDC in CH 2 SP. Turn (2) HDC

Row 2: CH 1, HDC in each HDC. Turn. (2) HDC

Row 3-29: REP Row 2 or to your desired length then SL ST to your other Granny Square at the corner CH 2 SP.

REP for other strap

Sides- Attach yarn to the 1st DC next to the CH 2 SP. This is your front panel.





Working on your 1st band


Row 1: CH 3 (Doesn’t count as a ST) TR in same ST. TR in the next 5 STS. Turn. 6 TR *If working on a L,XL or XXL I suggest adding another TR or 2TR for larger sizes*

Row 2: CH 3 (TR in each TR) Turn. 6 TR

Row 3-(8,9,10,11,12): REP Row 2

For a size S make 8 rows, Medium 9 rows, Large 10 rows, XLarge 11 rows, XXLarge 12 rows

Using SL ST attach your band to the back panel starting at the 1st DC right near the corner CH 2 SP

Always WS facing out when attaching

Repeat same process on the other side

Working on 2nd band on the sides


On the front panel skip one DC from the 1st band and attach your yarn

REP same steps as your 1st band on each side


Sleeves- Attach yarn to any TR space

Round 1: CH 3 ( Counts as your 1st TR) Work TR in next TR space. Work TR in each TR space. (If you don’t like the gaps that it will show then you can work 2TR in the TR spaces which will create a slightly bigger sleeve). TR in each DC, CH SP and HDC around. DO NOT JOIN WITH A SL ST. Stitch count doesn’t matter here. I had a total of 62 TR

Round 2: Work a TR in the 1st CH of the beginning CH 3 if previous round and mark it with a stitch marker. You will mark your 1st TR of each round. TR in each TR around.

Round 3-19: TR in each TR

DECREASE

Round 20: *SC, SC2TOG. REP from * around. ending on a SC. Stitch count doesn’t matter here. I had a total of 42 SC

Round 21: *SC2TOG ending on a SC. Join with a SL ST to beginning ST. Stitch count doesn’t matter here. I had a total of 21 SC.


Ribbed wrist- Switch to a 4.25mm hook

CH 15

SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. 14 SC, *SL ST in the next 2 SC that was made in Round 21, TURN, Skip those 2 SL ST, BLO SC in the next 14 SC, TURN, CH 1, BLO SC in the next 14 SC. REP from *til you reach your starting CH. Join wrist band together . Fasten off

Repeat same process for the other sleeve.

Ribbed Neckline- Using your 5mm hook.

Attach yarn to the DC next to where you attached your strap.

CH 5

SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. 4 SC, *SL ST in the next 2 STS, TURN, Skip those 2 SL ST, BLO SC in the next 4 SC, TURN, CH 1, BLO SC in the next 4 SC. REP from *til you reach your starting CH. Join together . Fasten off


The Bottom of your Dress- Using your 5mm hook

Attach yarn to any TR space.

Round 1: CH 3 Counts as your 1st TR, Work 2TR in that same TR space, Work 3 TR in each TR Space, Work 2 TR in each CH 2 SP and a TR in each DC around. Stitch count doesn’t matter here. For a small I had 102 TR. Do not join with a SL ST.

Round 2: Work a TR in the 1st CH of your beginning CH 3 from round 1 and make it with a stitch marker. You will be marking the 1st TR of each round here on out. TR in each TR around.

Round 3-17 : TR in each TR around. Fasten off


Tie Back- Make a separate CH 120 and SL ST back down the CH. Fasten off and weave in all ends

Weave it through both sides of the ribbed neckline in the back of your dress and make a bow
