THE MERMAID VIBES BOLERO PATTERN

Materials

I used Circulo Natural Cotton 4/6 yarn. You can use any worsted weight yarn #4

For size Small (approx. 450 yards). For each additional size up I suggest adding an additional 100 yards for the main color.

Measuring Tape

5.25mm Hook

4.25mm Hook

Stitch Markers

Size- S- 2XL but easily adjustable to make any size.


Gauge- 7 DC + 3 Rows= 2” Using a 5.25mm Hook

Abbreviations-

CH-Chain

ST- Stitch

SL ST- Slip Stitch

DC- Double Crochet

SC- Single Crochet

REP- Repeat

ST- Stitch

STS- Stiches

CH SP- Chain Space

WS- Wrong side

RS-Right Side

FPDC- Front Post Double Crochet




INSTRUCTIONS- Using your 5.25mm Hook. I made the size Small.

Small: 1st Number Medium: 2nd Number Large: 3rd Number

X-Large: 4th Number XXL: 5th Number


CH (96,108,120,132,144) FOR LARGER SIZES JUST INCREASE BY 12

Change to your 4.25mm Hook

Row 1: Work (2 DC, CH 1, 3DC) in the 3rd CH from the hook (CH 2 Counts as your 1st DC), Skip 2 STS, SL ST in the next ST. *Skip 2 STS, Work (3DC, CH 1, 3DC) in next ST, skip 2 STS, SL ST in the next ST. REP from * (14,16,18,20,22) Times. Join with a SL ST (16,18,20,22,24) Shells. Fasten off.


For a size small: You should have 8 shells on the front and back total 16 shells.

Medium: 9 shells on the front and back total 18 shells

Large: 10 shells on the front and back total 20 shells

XLarge: 11 shells on the front and back total 22 shells

XXLarge: 12 shells on the front and back total 24 shells


FRONT TOP LACE DETAIL: RS Facing Up

Attach main yarn to your 1st shells CH 1 SP using your 4.25mm hook


Row 1: *CH 5, SL ST into next shells CH 1 SP. REP from (6,7,8,9,10) Times. Turn. (7,8,9,10,11) CH 5 SP’s

Row 2: *CH 5, SL ST in CH 5 SP. REP from * (6,7,8,9,10) Times. Turn. (7,8,9,10,11) CH 5 SP’s

Row 3-7: REP Row 2. Fasten off.

For size medium I suggest making another row

For size large I suggest making another 2 rows

For size X large I suggest making another 3 rows

For size XX large I suggest making another 4 rows

BACK TOP LACE DETAIL:

Repeat same process as the front top lace detail.


STRAPS THAT GO OVER YOUR SHOULDERS- Using a 4.25 mm and main color yarn

Attach yarn to the top corner and CH 20 adjust as needed. Join with a SL ST to the back top corner. Fasten off.

Repeat same process for your other strap.


COLLAR- Using your 4.25mm Hook.

Attach yarn to the same spot you attached your strap.

Round 1: CH 2, Work 2 DC in that same CH SP, DC over each SL ST, Then 4DC in each CH 5 SP and DC in each CH for the strap. ST count doesn’t matter here. Joining with a SL ST work a DC in the beginning CH SP. Fasten off.

Round 2: CH 2, FPDC in each DC around. Join with a SL ST.

Round 3: CH 1, *SC2TOG. REP from * around. Join with a SL ST. Fasten off.





MAKING THE SLEEVES- Using your 4.25mm hook and attach your yarn to the armpit.

Round 1: CH 1, Work a SC in each ST and Work 5SC in each CH SP. I had a total of 64 SC. For larger sizes just increase in multiples of 6 SC. Join with a SL ST.

Round 2: CH 2 (Counts as your 1st DC) Work (2 DC, CH 1, 3DC) in first SC, Skip 2 SC, work a SL ST in the next SC. *Skip 2 SC, work (3DC, CH 1, 3DC) in the next SC, skip 2 SC, SL ST in the next SC REP from * 9 times. You might repeat more times for larger sizes. Join with a SL ST. (11 Shells) You may have more for larger sizes.

Round 3: SL ST through each DC and again in the 1st CH 1 SP of the shell.

Round 4: *CH 5, SL ST to next CH 1 SP of your next shell. REP from * til end of round. SL ST to join the round in the same CH 1 SP you started.


Round 2-32: *CH 5, SL ST into next CH 5 SP. REP from * around marking the beginning of each round. Add or remove rows for a shorter or longer sleeve.

Round 33: Work 2 SC in each CH 5 SP. Join with a SL ST.

Round 34-36: CH 1, SC in each SC around. Join with a SL ST.

Fasten off.


BOTTOM SHELL DETAIL – Using your 4.25mm hook attach yarn to the CH 2 SP of the shell closest to your armpit.

Round 1: CH 2 (Counts as your 1st DC) Work (2 DC, CH 1, 3DC) in the same CH 2 SP, SL ST in the next SL ST. * Work (3DC, CH 1, 3DC) in next CH 2 SP, SL ST in the next SL ST. REP from * (14,16,18,20,22) Times. SL ST in the CH 2 SP of your 1st Shell. (16,18,20,22,24) Shells. Fasten off.

Weave in all ends and you’re finished!!
