Materials


For size Small you will need (2 1/2) Skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn #6 Approx.  Approx. 550 yards

Each additional size up add an another ½ Skein or approx. 110 yards

8mm Hook

Slouchy Beanie

10mm Hook

Threading Needle

Scissors

Stitch Marker

PATTERN STITCH


Butterfly Puff Stitch- Yarn over, insert hook in same stitch and draw up a loop( 3 loops on hook) [yarn over, insert hook into same stitch and draw up a loop]  4 times (11 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 11 loops,  CH. 2 , Yarn over, insert hook in same stitch and draw up a loop (3 loops on hook) [yarn over, insert hook into same stitch and draw up a loop]  4 times (11 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 11 loops. CH 1. (COUNTS AS A ST)

INSTRUCTIONS – Using your 8mm


CH. 25- For all sizes        

                                                                                 

Row 1: Butterfly Puff See Pattern Stitch Above in 3rd CH from the Hook, CH 8 (that includes CH 1 from the Butterfly Puff),Skip 10 CH, work 11 DC in next CH, CH 8, Skip 10 CH, Work Butterfly Puff in the last CH. Turn. (2 Butterfly Puffs, 11 DC)                                                                                       

Row 2: Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, CH 7, Skip CH 8 SP, DC in DC. CH 1, DC in DC. REP from 11 times. CH 7, Skip CH 8 SP, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. Turn. (2 Butterfly Puffs, 11 DC)


Row 3: Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, CH 6, Skip CH 7 SP, SC in CH 1 SP. CH 3, Skip DC, SC in CH 1 SP. REP from 10 Times. CH 6, Skip CH 7 SP, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. Turn. (2 Butterfly Puffs, 10 SC)


Row 4: Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, CH 5, Skip CH 6 SP, SC in CH 3 SP. CH 3, Skip SC, SC in CH 3 SP. REP from 9 Times. CH 5, Skip CH 6 SP, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. Turn. (2 Butterfly Puffs, 9 SC)

Row 12: Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, CH 3, Skip CH 3 SP, SC in CH 3 SP. CH 3, Skip SC, SC in CH 3 SP. REP from 1 Time. CH 3, Skip CH 3 SP, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. Turn.  (2 Butterfly Puffs, 1 SC)      

                                                                                 

Row 13: Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, Skip Both CH 3 SP’s, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. Turn. (2 Butterfly Puffs)

Row 14:  SL ST over to your CH 1 SP, CH 1, work a Butterfly Puff. Turn.  (1 Butterfly Puff). Fasten Off.   

                                              

                                                                                                                   

THE BANDS – Using your 8mm Hook.  Attach your yarn to the CH 2 of the Butterfly Puff 2nd from the last Butterfly Puff

 

Left Band:


Row 1: CH.2 (Doesn’t counts as a ST), Work 2DC in each Butterfly Puff except for the last 3. Turn. (20 DC)

Row 2:

            Small: CH.2 (Doesn’t Count as a ST) DC in each DC across. Turn (20 DC)

            Medium: CH. 2 (Doesn’t Count as a ST) 2DC,DC.  REP from til the end of the row. Turn (30 DC)

           Large: CH. 2 (Doesn’t Count as a ST) Work 2DC in each DC. Turn. (40 DC)

           X-Large: CH. 2 (Doesn’t Count as a ST) 3DC, 2DC.  REP til the end of the row. Turn. (50 DC)


SMALL- 1st Number    MEDIUM- 2nd Number    LARGE- 3rd Number   X-Large- 4th Number


Row 3- CH. 2 (Doesn’t count as a ST) DC in each DC. Turn. (20,30,40,50) DC

Row 4-12: REP Row 3 Make more rows if needed    Fasten off.

THE BUTTERFLY PUFF STRAPS –RS Facing up and using your 8mm Hook

Attach yarn to the 1st CH 2 SP of your Butterfly Puff

CH.1

Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP, Turn, Butterfly Puff in CH 2 SP. REP from 14 times.  Adjust as needed  then SL ST to the last DC of the band.  WS facing up. SEE PIC BELOW (16 Butterfly Puffs).  Fasten Off. Then attach yarn to the CH 2 SP on the 1st Butterfly Puff on the other side and REP the same process. Fasten off.      

                                                                                                                                   

ATTACH THE BANDS TOGETHER- WS facing up- Use SL ST to attach the 2 bands together

                            

BOTTOM RIBBED BAND- Using your 10mm Hook- WS facing up

Attach yarn to the back seam where you attached your bands together.

Round 1: CH 1, Work 2SC in each side of the DC. When you reach the butterfly puffs on the front work a SC in each of the 3 butterfly puff CH 1 SP’s.  Then continue 2SC in each side of the DC. Join with a SL ST. (Stitch count doesn’t matter here)

If you feel that its abit tight around the bottom you may use a 8mm Hook and work 3SC in each side of the DC around instead.  If you use the 8mm Hook use that for the ribbed band as well instead of the 10mm Hook

 

                                                                                                                                  

RIBBED BAND ALONG THE BOTTOM- RS Facing up- Using your 10mm Hook.

CH 5

SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. 4 SC, SL ST in the next 2 SC that was made in Round 1, TURN, Skip those 2 SL ST, BLO SC in the next 4 SC, TURN, CH 1, BLO SC in the next 4 SC. REP from til you reach your starting CH. Join band together . Fasten off

                                                  

SLEEVES- WS facing up- Using your 10mm Hook-

Attach yarn to the back seam- Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round so there will be no CH’ing except for the 1st round                                                                                                                                                                         

To start your sleeve you will work 2DC in each side of the DC and work a DC in each CH 2 SP of the butterfly puff around

 

Round 1: (Counts as a ST) Work 2DC in each side of the DC and a SC in each CH 2 SP of the butterfly puff. (Stitch count doesn’t matter here) I made a size Medium and had 44 DC just to give you an idea.

Round 2: DC in the CH 1 of your beginning CH 2 from round 1. DC in each DC around.

Round 3-15: DC in each DC around. 

Round 16: SC2TOG. REP from around. (22) DC

Round 17: SC2TOG. REP from around. (11)DC


RIBBED WRIST – Using your 8mm Hook


CH 19

SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. 18 SC, SL ST in the next 2 SC that was made in Round 17, TURN, Skip those 2 SL ST, BLO SC in the next 18 SC, TURN, CH 1, BLO SC in the next 18 SC. REP from til you reach your starting CH. Join band together . Fasten off

Weave in all your ends and you are done!!!!!!
